Listening to Olivia Rees’ latest release is like inviting a burst of joy and excitement into your headphones. The moment you turn on her latest hit single, “It’s Over”, you find yourself wishing the majestic song would never end. It’s a highly exciting release from a very valuable and promising young artist. There’s something in Olivia Rees’ young, emotional voice that just speaks to your soul, and pulls at the heartstrings. In this release, Olivia does this lovely thing where she sings about a highly emotional topic, but with such gusto, and over such an uplifting beat, you can’t help but feel a little happy, even though… it’s over.

While in many ways, “It’s Over” is your classic break-up goodbye tune, it also explores an unusual side of the problem, if not through its words, than through its rhythm definitely. It’s a very freeing tune that makes you feel you can do anything in the world, despite this obvious suffering. It’s exactly the sort of song we need more of right now, we think, and we’re grateful to Olivia for putting this out there.
Having in the past struck out with memorable tracks like “Toxic Love” And “Someone You Loved (ft. Peter Peres)”, Olivia Rees is at it again in what will turn out to be another tune for the ages. The 24-year-old singer-songwriter from Toronto definitely has a lot of promise, both in her style, as well as in her voice. She’s obviously a very talented young woman with a lot to say, and the skill to say it.
With a voice that’s on par with big-name artists like Christina Aguilera and Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rees is already climbing up the ladder, across the music scene, and winning over hearts left right and center.
And while it may be over for the relationship in the song, we definitely hope to be seeing more of this young, talented artist in the near future. Until then, we’re keeping an eye on her on YouTube and Spotify, and recommend you do so, also.
